Many of the Georgian and Victorian buildings have been revitalized and old disused warehouses have become apartments. The area is host to many parks and open spaces, with it being declared the greenest borough in all of central London and is a haven for cyclists. Many of the parks have obtained the prestigious Green Flag Award and Hackney Marshes contain the largest group of football pitches in all of Europe. The area just keeps getting busier and brighter and is one of the sites of the 2012 Summer Olympic games.
